Recycling plant opens in Taylor (KXAN) – The first single-stream recycling facility in Central Texas has opened in Williamson County. “We can separate all of the components and package it up,” said John Rabon, with GM Wilco Recycling. Wilco Recycling is a private venture that built a $6 million facility in Taylor, and it opened in September. Before this facility was built, garage haulers were traveling down to San Antonio to take recyclables.”It makes it not cost-effective and not environmentally responsible,” said Rabon. So it’s not a surprise that several area haulers are now bringing upwards of 2,000 tons of trash per month — 40 tons is just in aluminum cans, which is nearly 3 million cans. Read More…

New Williamson recycling center a boon for county, some cities (Austin American Statesman) – The business of recycling is getting bigger in Williamson County. The largest single-stream recycling processing center in the county, the $6 million Wilco Recycling Center , opened in September and is paying thousands of dollars in rebates to its municipal customers, including Cedar Park and Round Rock. “We knew Round Rock and Cedar Park and other cities were asking for this for a long time, and the area is growing,” said John Rabon, the general manager and one of the partners in the center along with Central Texas Refuse. The center is holding a grand opening from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today at 1551 County Road 394, between Hutto and Taylor. The event is open to the public and will include a ribbon- cutting and tours. WILCO RECYCLING OPENS TEXAS MRF (Recycling Today) – The CP Group, based in San Diego, has designed, manufactured and installed a highly automated 20-tons-per-hour single-stream system for Wilco Recycling, Taylor, Texas. The MRF’s grand opening was Nov. 9, and the system is now in full operation. Wilco Recycling is locally owned and operated and serves Austin and the surrounding area. The company is jointly owned by Central Texas Refuse, Round Rock Refuse and Cedar Park Disposal. “We are excited about opening this recycling facility,” John Rabon, general manager of Wilco Recycling, said at the grand opening ceremony.
